Composites: Properties, use and solutions

Composite fibre materials represent a decisive technological lead in Germany as a centre for technological innovation. Composites are used mostly where there is a need for shape-giving creation, design, lightweight construction and reduced fatigue.

Special fibres and materials can be used, by way of example, to produce bullet- and explosion-proof vehicles and components. The use of composite fibre materials also makes it possible to design components which are perfectly suited to design elements and aerodynamic requirements.

Components made out of composite fibre materials offer many advantages:

  • - corrosion-free also in aggressive environments
  • - lightweight (e.g.e 75% lighter than steel)
  • - electrically and thermally insulating
  • - high level of workability
  • - low installation and maintenance costs lead to high profitability
  • - excellent weight-specific strength
  • - low friction
  • - maintenance free
  • - high resistance
  • - helps to avoid CO2

Due to the abundance of different areas of application of composite fibre materials, it is necessary to provide equally extensive, individual guidance and cooperation for your projects. Components and component assemblies in GRP can be used, for example, for automotive production, aviation and astronautics, rail vehicles, wind power, in the leisure and sport sector, construction, electronics or in the medical sector. They can also be used for the production of furniture panels.
